At Nitemare Performance, we build Pontiac motors with a wide range of performance levels, from 400 horsepower 'grocery getters' to streetable engines in the 500-horsepower range to race engines putting out 750 horsepower or more.

Our crate engines are dyno-proven and many of our customers swear by them for their performance, reliability, and value. But some folks need their Pontiac's engine rebuilt and restored to its factory-original condition, while others may need a custom combination of components to meet racing class rules or to gain an edge in competition. Whatever your Pontiac engine needs may be, Nitemare Performance can accommodate them.

462 ci Nostalgia Super Stock
Race Engine with
Kinsler Fuel Injection

Our customer needed a special engine for Nostalgia Super Stock racing, so we put together a 462 ci Ram Air IV with Kinsler Fuel Injection that makes nearly 700 horsepower with its Stage IV-ported Ram Air IV heads, a custom solid roller cam, and 13.5:1 compression.! It's not what everyone needs. But if that's what you need, we can build it for you.

462 ci Ram Air IV Race Engine

This engine was personal -- our owner's 462-inch Ram Air IV race engine featuring 14.5:1 compression, heavily-ported Ram Air IV heads, a huge, custom, solid roller cam, a heavily-modified intake manifold, and a bunch of other touches that will make this engine an absolute terror in his '68 GTO on whatever track it rolls onto.

Pump-Friendly Stroker

Our Pump-Friendly Stroker starts with an iron, Pontiac 400-inch block, but is bored and stroked to 462 cubic inches. Stage 2 ported cast iron Pontiac 4X heads, 9.3:1 compression, and our NM3 hydraulic flat-tappet camshaft help it develop 477 hp and 515 lbs-ft of torque on regular, 87-octane pump gas! Check out the practically-flat torque "curve" on dyno results, below!

Custom 455 Ram Air IV

A customer challenged us to put together a high-performance 455 for them that would also be rock-solid reliable. Our solution was to build a custom, 455-inch Ram Air IV engine featuring 9.9:1 forged pistons, our Nitemare NM4 cam and Stage II Ram Air IV round-port (#722) heads, a Torker II intake and an 850-cfm carb, among other specially selected and prepared parts. Judging by its dyno numbers (below), we'd say it delivers.

HP Stroker

Based on our proven, 462-cubic-inch Pump Friendly Stroker, we cranked up the compression to 10.1:1, loaded it with our NM3 hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, then fit 1.65:1 rockers to a set of our Stage 2 ported cast iron Pontiac "62" heads, which resulted in a combination that remains streetable on "Premium" 92-94 octane pump gas yet produces an astounding 492.2 horsepower and 552.9 lbs-ft of torque!

Solid, Flat-Tappet Stroker

Our Solid Flat-Tappet Stroker Motor is based on a 400 ci block, but displaces 462 ci. It has a compression ratio of 10.4:1, a 0.600"-lift custom-ground flat-tappet camshaft, an Edelbrock Torker II intake, and Edelbrock heads. This motor runs on pump gasoline, idles at 1100 RPM and runs best on the street with up to a 10-inch torque converter. View the Stroker Motor dyno specs.

Edelbrock-Equipped 455

Our Edelbrock 455 Street Motor utilizes a stock-stroke crank & stock-length rods, 455 block and Edelbrock heads. It has a displacement of 461 ci, a compression ratio of 9.8:1, a 0.666" lift solid roller camshaft and a Nitemare-ported intake. This motor also runs on pump gasoline, idles at 1200 RPM and runs best on the street with a tight 8-inch torque converter. View the Edelbrock 455 dyno specs.
